Wound Healing

In Vivo Wound Healing

Epistem's in vivo wound healing models can be used to assess the effect of novel therapeutic agents on the rate of healing and degree of scarring. Epistem offers excisional and incisional wounding models including a human skin xenograft model which closely mimics the human wound healing process. An Inflamed Wound Healing model is also available; incisional wounds are treated with LPS which impairs healing.

These models can be modified to examine the effects of gender, hormones and age in regulating wound healing and to assess:

  • Wound closure
  • Re-epithelialisation
  • Angiogenesis
  • Granulation tissue maturity
  • Collagen deposition
  • Inflammatory response
