Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Epistem offers orthotopic models of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Acute Myeloid Leukemia is the most common form of adult leukemia and is characterised by clonal proliferation of myeloid precursors. Human leukemic cell lines are intrafemorally or intravenously injected to ensure consistent engraftment and development of disease at the clinically applicable site, intravenous injection of leukemic cells is also available.
Epistem's orthotopic Acute Myeloid Leukemia model is available with Kasumi-1 and MV4-11 cell lines which have a t(8:21) (AML-ETO) translocation representative of approximately 25% of AML patients. These cell lines have been lentivirally transduced with luciferase and GFP, allowing in-life disease monitoring using optical imaging.
Acute Myeloid Leukemia Model Description
Cells expressing luciferase and GFP are transplanted intrafemorally. Engraftment can be consistently detected by optical imaging at an early stage of disease, dependent on the growth kinetics of the cell line. Solid tumor formation, as seen in some AML patients, is observed alongside limited systemic disease.
